We have had many success stories in the last couple of weeks...

The Super Youth Circuit in San Jose
This event is one of only five across the USA and is one of the most important annual events for youth fencers. We did well as a club, six of our members did well enough to earn national points and therefore, likely a national ranking in seven events! Firstly, congratulations to Clarissa Perez, Y14 Women's Sabre GOLD medalist!!! Champion of the Western United States from here to Houston, Texas, where the next closest SYC was held! In earning her gold medal, she defeated former national champion Sage Palmedo 15-3 along the way! Well done! Our other top fencers earning national points included:

Carrie Gilchrist Y14 Women's Sabre
Miranda Guerrero Y14 Women's Sabre
Stirling Johnson Y12 Women's Sabre
Lotus Lum Y12 Women's Sabre
Andrew Gleeson Y12 Men's Sabre, Y14 Men's Sabre

To all of the SYC competitors, good job and continue to fight for excellence!

And even more current news, this past weekend in Long Beach were the Senior and Junior Pacific Coast Championships. Our member who attended was Carrie Gilchrist. Carrie made top 8 in the SENIOR event (that means the she is in the top eight women of any age in three states), earning herself a qualification for summer nationals, and a BRONZE medal in the Junior (19 and under) event—a GREAT accomplishment for a 14-year-old! Everyone wish her congrats! Well done Carrie!
